The basic principle 
Generally in homogeneous material, the existence of defects will cause material discontinuity, the discon- tinuity will be reflected between the different impedance of the interfaces, the discontinuous will cause the differences of the acoustic impedance, the strength of the reflected energy is related with the differences of impedance of two interfaces and the orientation、the size of the interfaces to determine damage area.
